Getting a job in video games is a tough ask. Competition is rife and it can be a real struggle to get your first break.

What should you do then?

The standard piece of advice that graduates receive from people already in the games industry is to use this time to improve your skills and showcase the results in your portfolio. This is really worthwhile doing. To get a job in games you have to be able to show talent and real potential. Time spent on your portfolio shows a dedication the games industry and a passion for wanting to break in for real.
